Let’s read the Bible together
The Seymour CRC Elders would like to encourage an activity for the whole church – reading through the Bible in a year. We’d like this to be a clear, tangible example of the church sharing an activity and working toward a common goal. Not only will this help strengthen our foundational beliefs by increasing our Biblical knowledge and literacy, it will bring us closer to God. And, as a result of getting closer to God, this shared, corporate activity will also bring us closer to each other.
We’re planning to use a chronological reading plan in conjunction with The Bible Recap. This reading plan goes through the books (and chapters), not in the order they’re printed in the Bible, but in the order that they were written (e.g., we’ll do a fair amount of intermixing when the gospel narratives all overlap). The Bible Recap (TBR) also provides short, daily followup to the reading that summarizes what was just read. The daily Bible readings are about 12 minutes long and the (optional) recap is about 8 minutes.
Let’s get started
To get a sense for what’s involved, take a look at The Bible Recap’s “start page” — https://www.thebiblerecap.com/start. It will also help explain how to stay on track and use any of the options:
- audio
- video
We know that there are already several members and groups at Seymour who have already been using this plan, and we’d love to continue to expand that count to include everyone.
