You belong here!
Membership is a covenantal promise between you, God, and the other members of the church. This is why we place such a high value on church membership. To be a member of a church is to make a public promise to live according to God’s Word and to support the worship and work of the church. We encourage everyone who calls Seymour their church home to become official members. Joining Seymour Church is a simple yet significant process.
Four Steps of Membership
Step 1: Attend an Exploring Seymour Lunch
About twice per year (usually in February and October), we offer an Exploring Seymour Lunch following a Sunday morning worship service. At this lunch you have the opportunity to meet Seymour members, talk with leadership, and hear a little more about the Seymour family.
Register for our upcoming Exploring Seymour Lunch on October 27:
Step 2: Complete a Membership Form
Once you have attended the Exploring Seymour lunch, please fill out a Membership Form. This provides us with your contact information, previous church membership, and baptism records.
Step 3: Conversation with your Elder and Deacon
Once you have completed the membership form, we will contact you to set up a conversation with an elder and a deacon. They will meet with you for about an hour to hear about your faith journey, pray with you, and discuss opportunities for discipleship and service. Following the meeting, the elder and deacon will submit your name for membership at the upcoming Elder Board meeting.
Step 4: Public Affirmation of Membership Vows and Baptism
Upon Council approval, we will schedule a day with you to take your public membership vows at a Sunday morning worship service. If you have not been baptized before, your baptism will be scheduled for the same service as your vows.
If you would like to discuss membership or any of the steps, feel free to reach out to the church office or email Pastor Brian at brian@seymourchurch.org.
